Reclaimed Parquet Coffee Table
We made this coffee table from reclaimed parquet flooring. The table top sits on custom built steel legs. Suspended under the table is a storage shelf for magazines and books.
The parquet was originally the floor for a church in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands of England. Luckily the Church still stands and is now re-purposed as a community hall. The flooring was removed as part of the renovations and we were lucky enough to get our hands on it. The parquet bricks are pitch pine and have all the marks and imperfections that make them just perfect in our eyes. We plane the top surface of the bricks and sand them back before applying our own recipe beeswax polish. We have arranged the bricks in an attractive herringbone pattern. We expose the edge of the parquet bricks and chamfer the edge of the ply making it almost invisible.
The legs are in our typical JAM style of contemporary folded steel with exposed black rivets. The legs and the shelf have been powder coated in a gloss charcoal grey.
This coffee table sits at 45cm tall and has a 118cm x 60cm table top.
The table comes complete with a pot of our beeswax polish and a polishing cloth.
It’s a real privilege to work with timber with such an amazing story and a real joy to give it new meaning and a new life. We love this Parquet Coffee Table and we hope you do too : )
